Standard Flag Sizes and How to Choose the Right One

Flag sizes are standardised, and knowing the common sizes helps you plan stock, price points and shipping.

The most popular sizes

  • 2×3 ft (60×90 cm) — handheld, desk and small residential flags
  • 3×5 ft (90×150 cm) — the global standard for house flags and the best-selling size in most markets
  • 4×6 ft (120×180 cm) — commercial and institutional use
  • 5×8 ft (150×240 cm) — large outdoor and showroom flags

For a flag to fly correctly, the length should be about 1.5× the height, which is why 3×5 ft is so common.

Matching the flag to the flagpole

A useful rule of thumb: the flag should be roughly one quarter to one third of the pole height.

  • 6 m pole → 3×5 ft flag
  • 8 m pole → 4×6 ft flag
  • 10 m pole → 5×8 ft flag

Hardware matters too

Choose the finishing to match how the flag is mounted: a sleeve for a pole, grommets for tying off, or a rope and toggle for a halyard. We can finish any size to your specification.

Ordering in mixed sizes is no problem — we produce and pack them together so you can test a size range with a single order.
